Electromotive's Strategic Power Assist System combines gasoline and batteries and operates independently of the OEM control system. The heart of this innovative combination is the Electromotive Electronic Engine Management System which controls both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the electric motor by monitoring engine and charging functions and provides instantaneous adjustments of these operations. The result is optimum performance of both the ICE and the charging system with very impressive economy and performance numbers.
Previous parallel systems did not operate the electric and gas engines at the same time, or utilized complicated clutches or differentials and sometimes operated only one wheel at a time. In the Electromotive system, the electric motor is controlled to output power under certain operating conditions to assist the internal combustion engine. The electric motor is coupled to the internal combustion engine using grooved belts at 1 to 1 or any other ratio, and both are connected to the drive train. The electric motor seamlessly provides `load leveling' to the internal combustion engine which remarkably improves performance and drivability. The electric motor produces generous torque, which enables the use of a smaller displacement internal combustion engine that will be run `leaner' (good for emissions), with an acceleration curve that is rapid and continuous. The net result is a smoother, cleaner and more efficient internal combustion engine.
Your Engine Will Be the `Sweetest' On the Road!
Other hybrid systems talk of the desirable `Sweet Spot', where the internal combustion engine is operating at its maximum efficiency (best ratio of `fuel used to power delivered'), but rarely achieve this operating range. Electromotive's real-time based Electronic Controller commands the electric motor to assist the ICE during times when the engine is least efficient, for example, upon acceleration from low to high speed. By providing this output power or `load balance', improved performance and drivability is achieved while maximizing fuel economy and reducing harmful emissions. Speaking of emissions, with Electromotives's Electronic Engine Management System, the `Sweet Spot' is run leaner (air/fuel ratio) than another system without engine damage as a result of the sophisticated engine monitoring scheme and computerized control. This results in a much `cleaner' running engine.
No plug-in is needed with the Electromotive Hybrid as the electric motor acts as an electrical generator during vehicle deceleration, regenerative braking and vehicle idle or at any time when the engine produces excess power. The Electromotive system can utilize batteries with or without industrial capacitors.
